PONGAL CELEBRATION - 2023

As every year this year too we had celebrated Tamil Harvest Festival Pongal at Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences. Second year undergraduate students have organized Pongal celebration on 12/01/2023 at 9.30 a.m. inside the college premises. The celebration was inaugurated by Trustee Managing director Dr.Annamalai Regupathy & Dean Dr. Mathan Mohan. All the students & Faculty of all the department were present and graced the occasion. Events like Uriyadi, Rangoli, Kavitha, Dance, Bambaram, Karumbu eating, Karumbu breaking, Lucky corner, Musical chair, Slow cycling, Lemon in the spoon, Tug of war, Jute race & Water filling were conducted which made the event even more interesting.

Pongal is also referred to as Thai Pongal (தைப்பொங்கல், also spelled Tai Pongal), is a multi-day Hindu harvest festival celebrated by Tamils in India and Sri Lanka. It is observed at the start of the month Tai according to Tamil solar calendar, and this is typically about January 14. It is dedicated to the Hindu sun god,] the Surya, and corresponds to Makar Sankranti, the harvest festival under many regional names celebrated throughout India. The three days of the Pongal festival are called Bhogi Pongal, Surya Pongal and Maattu Pongal. Some Tamils celebrate a fourth day of Pongal as Kaanum Pongal.

As a part of various cultural activities and events the students of KIDS actively perform and conduct the Traditional festival with culture and prosperity. Every year before the festival from 2013 the students of KIDS Second year will be the Organizing Team for the events in which the activities and games will be conducted from First Year to Interns and also for staff’s.
