The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology successfully completed Day 1 of the “Reckoning the Examinophobia” post-graduate mock test program. With an esteemed panel of experts and 35 delegates from various colleges, the event provided a comprehensive platform to address exam anxiety and enhance exam-taking skills.
On account of “World Hypertension Day-2024” We the department of Public Health Dentistry, Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences, organised a rally in Uthiramerur. In this event all the final year dental students, interns and Post graduates distributed Pamplets regarding the prevention and management of Hypertension to the public. The rally was initiated by Inspector of police, sub-inspector,Uthiramerur and a pledge was taken by dental students to create awareness regarding prevention of Hypertension among the public. we thank our beloved Dean Dr.A.Madanmohan, Principal Dr.B.Balaguhan, for the support and being part of this successful event.

Two Day CBCT program For CRRIs to enlighten them with basics and reporting
The Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences, conducted a CDE program “CBCT Program for General Practitioners”, which took place on April 24, 2024. The program was designed to provide participants with a deep understanding of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) technology and its applications in dentistry. The event featured a series of expert-led lectures by all staff, oral medicine and radiology. These lectures covered a wide range of topics, including the principles of CBCT imaging, the interpretation of CBCT images, and the role of CBCT in treatment planning for various dental conditions. In addition to the lectures, the program included hands-on workshops where participants had the opportunity to practice using CBCT machines under the guidance of experienced instructors. This practical experience was invaluable for participants to gain confidence in using CBCT technology in their own practice. The program was attended by 11 participants, all of whom actively engaged in the lectures and workshops. At the end of the program, certificates of participation were awarded to all attendees to recognize their commitment to advancing their knowledge and skills in CBCT imaging.
Tobacco Deaddiction therapy program was conducted on 27thoctober, 2023 by Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology & Public Health Dentistry. Guest speaker was Dr. Nilam Gada, Tobacco deaddiction specialist and cosmetic surgeon. The program was attended by all faculties, principal and undergraduate students. At the end of the session, quiz program was conducted among the students and prize distribution happened.
WEBINAR
The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology organized a webinar on 01.09.2023 (Friday) between 10.00 AM to 11.00 AM, through the zoom call meeting. The lecture in this webinar was given by Dr. M. Sudha, Prof.,M.D.S.,MFDS RCPS(Glassglow).,PhD.
Dr. T. Saravanan, Vice principal & Professor, Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology chaired the session and welcome address. Prof. Dr. M. Sudha has delivered a lecture on the topic “ART OF WRITING MANUSCRIPT”. She explained how to write a manuscript for original research paper, systematic review, meta-analysis and case reports. We received good feedback from the audience. At the end of the webinar Dr. T. Saravanan, Vice principal & Professor, delivered the vote of thanks. He also thanked the participants for their active support for making the webinar to be successful.
The inaugural ceremony of the 16th batch of undergraduates (year 2023 -24) induction program commenced with the lighting of a lamp by a group of dignitaries of the Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences was held on 21st September 2023 at 9.30 am in the Saroja Regupathy main auditorium.

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day celebration was organized in our college by Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology on 13th October 2023. The function was graced by our principal, all faculty members and students. The guest speakers of the day were professors Dr. Uma and Dr. Deepa Gawtham from the Department of Anesthesiology and Professor & Head of the Department Dr. Thirunaaukarasu from Department of Community Medicine. They throwed light on topics such as what is hospice, palliative care scope for dental students and pain management for cancer patients.

Onam, a unique Kerala festival was celebrated in our college as “KIDDONAM 23” on 01.09.2023. The program was graced by our beloved vice prinicipalDr. T. Saravanan with his presence. The intern batch students organized cultural programmes and conducted games for the staff and the students. Games involved bottle fill, musical chair, pookkolam, uriyadi, tug of war, and lemon & spoon.

Mental Health and Well Being
The mental health program on “Mental Health and Well Being” was conducted on 29.03.2023 at Lecture hall complex, Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Groups for CRI’s and Final year students. The guest speaker for the session was Dr. Siva Ilango, MD., Professor and Head, Department of Psychiatry, Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre. Sir, in his 1-hour session conduct various mind games and asked the students to fill the mental health assessment google form and analysed and discussed the mental state of students in real time. He briefed the importance of Positive mental health, various objectives of positive mental health, how to cope up this changing environment and to manage the social media related stress. The session was very useful and improves the positive mindset and positive attitude among students.

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department conducted a hands-on training for the interns on 14.03.2023.Interns were trained in procedures such as transalveolar extraction, tongue laceration and suturing, biopsy in goat’s head. The hours that we portrayed has impressed the entire team immensely and deemed ourselves honoured to have been motivated to conduct further endeavours.Participants gained experience and skills to expertise in the above mentioned procedures. We thank our management Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences for helping us organizing the program.

Conservative and endodontic day
March 5th is marked to be a memorable day for the Endodontists worldwide. We, the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics of KIDS, proudly celebrated this year’s Cons-Endo day 2022 by conducting a CDE programme (INSIGHT INTO CARIOLOGY ) on 04.03.2022 (Friday) for undergraduate and post graduate students. The event was held in CME hall, KIDS. The program was inaugurated at 9.30 am with the Tamizh thai vazhthu in the presence of Dr. Madhan Mohan, Dean, Dr. Saravanan, Vice principal,Dr Madhuram HOD, Department of conservative dentistry and endodontics and all other Dept HOD’s ,faculty members and students. The introduction of the programme & Welcome speech was addressed by Dr.Madhuram, HOD,Department of conservative dentistry and endodontics,KIDS. Felicitation for the speakers of the day (Dr. POORNI and Dr.DEEPALAKSHMI) was done by Dr. Madhuram and Dr Naveen , Department of conservative dentistry and endodontics,KIDS with a momento and certificate. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Shuruthi, Senior lecturer, KIDS. The programme started with the first lecture on CARIES RISK ASSESSMENT presented by Dr POORNI, Professor, Sri venkateshwara dental college followed by Connexions for each undergraduate batch was conducted by displaying pictures regarding the subject and the students were asked to guess the images by connecting them . The second lecture was presented by Dr Deepalakshmi on the topic of CARIES DIAGNOSIS. Prizes for the quiz were announcedafter completion of programme and the winners were awarded with gifts.The programme ended by 12.30 pm.

CBCT INAUGURATION
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a 3 D imaging modality which allows to collect valuable diagnostic information for a range of dental and maxillofacial application including Oral Medicine & Radiology, Endodontics, Implantology, Orthognathic, Orthodontics, and Oral & Maxillofacial surgery.

121ST Clinical Society Meet was held on 10/01/2023 between 12 noon to 1 pm in the lecture hall complex from the department of Oral Medicine & Radiology. Three speakers were presented.
WOMENS DAY CELEBRATION
On the occasion of Women’s day, which fell on the 8th of March we, on behalf of the gender sensitization committee planned to celebrate women around us, by way of a programme that would enrich and enhance their knowledge, recognize their hardwork and motivate them to aim higher and achieve greater. A lively and motivating speech was given by Dr.Vidyaa Hari Iyer on ‘How to step up in dentistry’ to help women to plan their career path better. Dr.Madhuram gave a speech on ‘Posh Act’ to help create a better working environment for women. Awards were distributed for women achievers of the year to recognize, motivate and encourage them.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION
The international day for yoga was celebrated on 21st June, 2022 in the lecture hall complex. Dr. Daya Shree (An NLP coach, yoga expert certified from IATD) conducted the workshop on yoga.As dental professionals are more prone to occupational health related problemsespecially musculo-skeletal disorders like neck and lower back pain, hence the theme of the yoga session is “Excellence at work with yoga” to educate staff and students towards work related health issues. Later additional lectures were given on the following topics; Holistic approach to wellness, Specific technique at work, Food for thought, Proper breathing technique, Meditation and Whole body relaxation. A total of 200 students both under graduates, post graduates and 20 staffs participated and benefited from the event.

VALUE ADDED PROGRAM ON THESIS WRITING
The IQAC of KarpagaVinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences conducted a Value Added Program on “Thesis Writing” in association with the research division of the institution on 24th May2nd and 3rdJune.On the first day of the program, our speaker Prof.R.Murugesan gave an introduction to selection,implementation, approaching the IEC and writing of thesis to all the 22 first year postgraduate students.The following days of the workshop encompassed one on one interaction of all participants with the speaker regarding their thesis topic selection, methodology, and application to IEC.

GRANT PROPOSAL WRITING
The IQAC of Karpaga Vinayaga institute of dental sciences conducted a workshop on Grant proposal writing in association with the research division to promote and encourage the participation in national level research funding scheme on 29th march 2022.Our Research advisor Prof.R.Murugesan briefed the audience on the various national level funding schemes available and the area of interest of the same, So as to guide the participant to approach an appropriate funding agency for their project. A total of 20 participants from all the departments benefitted from the workshop.
STEM CELL AND TISSUE ENGINEERING
The IQAC of KarpagaVinayaga Institute of Dental sciences conducted a workshop on “Stemcell and tissue engineering” in association with the research division of the institution to promote and encourage cutting edge research methodology. Prof.Krishnamoorthy Kannan founder of KK biotech Haryana was an invited speaker for the event that was held on 7th June 2022.He delivered a concise lecture on tissue engineering concepts and current stem cell updates. A total of 50 students which constituted postgraduate students of our dental college participated and benefitted from the event.

A program on online course creation was organized by the IQAC of Karpaga Vinayaga institute of dental sciences on April 7th 2022.This program was conducted for all the staffs of our college in order to motivate and create more accessible learning platform for the students.
