Tobacco Deaddiction therapy program was conducted on 27thoctober, 2023 by Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology & Public Health Dentistry. Guest speaker was Dr. Nilam Gada, Tobacco deaddiction specialist and cosmetic surgeon. The program was attended by all faculties, principal and undergraduate students. At the end of the session, quiz program was conducted among the students and prize distribution happened.

The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology organized a webinar on 01.09.2023 (Friday) between 10.00 AM to 11.00 AM, through the zoom call meeting. The lecture in this webinar was given by Dr. M. Sudha, Prof.,M.D.S.,MFDS RCPS(Glassglow).,PhD.
Dr. T. Saravanan, Vice principal & Professor, Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology chaired the session and welcome address. Prof. Dr. M. Sudha has delivered a lecture on the topic “ART OF WRITING MANUSCRIPT”. She explained how to write a manuscript for original research paper, systematic review, meta-analysis and case reports. We received good feedback from the audience. At the end of the webinar Dr. T. Saravanan, Vice principal & Professor, delivered the vote of thanks. He also thanked the participants for their active support for making the webinar to be successful.
The inaugural ceremony of the 16th batch of undergraduates (year 2023 -24) induction program commenced with the lighting of a lamp by a group of dignitaries of the Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences was held on 21st September 2023 at 9.30 am in the Saroja Regupathy main auditorium.

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day celebration was organized in our college by Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology on 13th October 2023. The function was graced by our principal, all faculty members and students. The guest speakers of the day were professors Dr. Uma and Dr. Deepa Gawtham from the Department of Anesthesiology and Professor & Head of the Department Dr. Thirunaaukarasu from Department of Community Medicine. They throwed light on topics such as what is hospice, palliative care scope for dental students and pain management for cancer patients.

Medical health check up and Hepatitis B vaccination for 1st year BDS students held on 14.09.2023
Onam, a unique Kerala festival was celebrated in our college as “KIDDONAM 23” on 01.09.2023. The program was graced by our beloved vice prinicipalDr. T. Saravanan with his presence. The intern batch students organized cultural programmes and conducted games for the staff and the students. Games involved bottle fill, musical chair, pookkolam, uriyadi, tug of war, and lemon & spoon.

Mental Health and Well Being
The mental health program on “Mental Health and Well Being” was conducted on 29.03.2023 at Lecture hall complex, Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Groups for CRI’s and Final year students. The guest speaker for the session was Dr. Siva Ilango, MD., Professor and Head, Department of Psychiatry, Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre. Sir, in his 1-hour session conduct various mind games and asked the students to fill the mental health assessment google form and analysed and discussed the mental state of students in real time. He briefed the importance of Positive mental health, various objectives of positive mental health, how to cope up this changing environment and to manage the social media related stress. The session was very useful and improves the positive mindset and positive attitude among students.

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department conducted a hands-on training for the interns on 14.03.2023.Interns were trained in procedures such as transalveolar extraction, tongue laceration and suturing, biopsy in goat’s head. The hours that we portrayed has impressed the entire team immensely and deemed ourselves honoured to have been motivated to conduct further endeavours.Participants gained experience and skills to expertise in the above mentioned procedures. We thank our management Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences for helping us organizing the program.

M.B.B.S., M.S., (O&G), Member of Parliament (Rajya sabha) in the presence of Trustee, Managing Director, Dr. Annamalai Ragupathy, Dean Dr. Mathan Mohan. It was attended by all the head of the departments and other dignitaries of the institution.
Conservative and endodontic day
March 5th is marked to be a memorable day for the Endodontists worldwide. We, the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics of KIDS, proudly celebrated this year’s Cons-Endo day 2022 by conducting a CDE programme (INSIGHT INTO CARIOLOGY ) on 04.03.2022 (Friday) for undergraduate and post graduate students. The event was held in CME hall, KIDS. The program was inaugurated at 9.30 am with the Tamizh thai vazhthu in the presence of Dr. Madhan Mohan, Dean, Dr. Saravanan, Vice principal,Dr Madhuram HOD, Department of conservative dentistry and endodontics and all other Dept HOD’s ,faculty members and students. The introduction of the programme & Welcome speech was addressed by Dr.Madhuram, HOD,Department of conservative dentistry and endodontics,KIDS. Felicitation for the speakers of the day (Dr. POORNI and Dr.DEEPALAKSHMI) was done by Dr. Madhuram and Dr Naveen , Department of conservative dentistry and endodontics,KIDS with a momento and certificate. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Shuruthi, Senior lecturer, KIDS. The programme started with the first lecture on CARIES RISK ASSESSMENT presented by Dr POORNI, Professor, Sri venkateshwara dental college followed by Connexions for each undergraduate batch was conducted by displaying pictures regarding the subject and the students were asked to guess the images by connecting them . The second lecture was presented by Dr Deepalakshmi on the topic of CARIES DIAGNOSIS. Prizes for the quiz were announcedafter completion of programme and the winners were awarded with gifts.The programme ended by 12.30 pm.

Department of Prosthodontics celebrates the day every year on 22nd January 2023. This year the department had conducted various programmes. A cycle rally was organised to enlighten the public about the importance of replacement of missing teeth.

CBCT INAUGURATION
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a 3 D imaging modality which allows to collect valuable diagnostic information for a range of dental and maxillofacial application including Oral Medicine & Radiology, Endodontics, Implantology, Orthognathic, Orthodontics, and Oral & Maxillofacial surgery.
